Are there any Catholic saints for…?

crime solving/ solvers
puzzle/ problem solvers
i.e. people in the forensics field: anthropologists, pathologists, psychiatrists, etc.

Also, for confirmation, do confirmation names need to be of your own gender?
I’ve been looking it up for hours now… I just need some help.

Saint Dominic is the patron saint of scientist. But your conformation name needs to be from your own gender.

Here are some ones that might be helpful

http://saints.sqpn.com/saint-christina-the-astonishing/ (she’s the patron saint of psychiatrists)

raphael the patron saint and guardian of healers, and St. Dymphna the patroness of mental health

Confirmation names do not have to be your own gender (e.g. St. John Mary Vianney, St. Louis Marie Grignion de Montfort, St. Anthony Mary Claret, etc.)

This site gives a number of choices for patron saints of doctors:

And I know St. Michael is the patron of police officers, which would probably include detectives.

    God bless!

I wasn’t able to find anything that matched up with those exactly, but here’s a good website for information on saints: http://saints.sqpn.com/.

Also, I’ve never heard any specification that you have to choose a confirmation saint of the same gender as you.

    Good luck!

I don’t know about the patron saint part but you do not have to pick a saint of your own gender for your Confirmation saint. A girl friend of mine choose St. Peter Chanel.

    Possibly, St. Martin de Porres.

St. Martin de Porres was born at Lima, Peru, in 1579. His father was a Spanish gentleman and his mother a coloured freed-woman from Panama. At fifteen, he became a lay brother at the Dominican Friary at Lima and spent his whole life there-as a barber, farm laborer, almoner, and infirmarian among other things.

Martin had a great desire to go off to some foreign mission and thus earn the palm of martyrdom. However, since this was not possible, he made a martyr out of his body, devoting himself to ceaseless and severe penances. In turn, God endowed him with many graces and wondrous gifts, such as, aerial flights and bilocation.

St. Martin’s love was all-embracing, shown equally to humans and to animals, including vermin, and he maintained a cats and dogs hospital at his sister’s house. He also possessed spiritual wisdom, demonstrated in his solving his sister’s marriage problems, raising a dowry for his niece inside of three day’s time, and resolving theological problems for the learned of his Order and for bishops. A close friend of St. Rose of Lima, this saintly man died on November 3, 1639 and was canonized on May 6, 1962. His feast day is November 3.

    or

    St. Albert the Great
    Patron of Scientists

Albert the Great was one of the Church’s greatest intellects. He studied at the University of Padua and later taught at Hildesheim, Freiburg-im-Breisgau, Regensburg, and Strasbourg. He then taught at the University of Paris, where he received his doctorate in 1245. He was among the first and greatest of the natural scientists, gaining a reputation for expertise in biology, chemistry, physics, astronomy, geography, metaphysics, and mathematics. He was also very learned in biblical studies and theology.
