if you were a psychologist with an MD you’d be a psychiatrist. psychiatrists caaaaaaaaaaaan but they’re so focused on medicine that psychologists are the ones focused on the people
Psychiatrists do psychotherapy as well but they work mostly for the severely mentally ill, such as schizophrenics and what not. You can’t be a psychologist with an MD degree because that would be called a Psychiatrist.
I am currently a Pre-Med going for Psychiatry and in specializing you will not only learn medical methods you will also learn psychotherapeutic methods as-well…. Based on your diagnosis of the patient an appropriate method would follow

There are occasionally people who get both degrees. But that is a lot of college. We are talking 16-20 years of college.
Psychiatrists can do therapy, but they usually don’t. They can make far more money just prescribing meds.
