It’s just a belief. Either way, it doesn’t take an intelligent person to have such a simple belief if you ask me.

yes and no. your right about the drugs out there but psychiatry is a real science. Its just that we suck at learning about it and have no real treatments for most diseases except to give a pill that makes you blow bubbles.

I know, none of my medicines work. It either sedates you so much that you are too tired to act out or do anything, therefore, you are "cured". Plus, when you are so sedated and you sleep, of course your not having any problems then. And actually, all the side effects of medicines just defeat the purpose of taking them. Say you take Lexapro for depression, but that also causes weight gain. Once you gain weight, you will probably feel even more depressed about it. I take Risperdal because the doctors thought I was psycho, which obviously I’m not, and well, I can’t tell if it works. It just makes me very hungry and tired. The other medicine I take, Luvox, doesn’t work at all. I have skipped taking it for days and nothing happened. But, the Trazodone does work….only to make me fall asleep. It doesn’t make me feel less depressed like it’s supposed to. It just puts me to sleep and that’s it. Oh , and ever since I was eleven years old, I have been on pretty much every medicine in every category; Adderall, Prozac, Geodon, Lithium, Strattera, Concerta, Zofran, Ritalin, Abilify, Lexapro, Klonopin, Ativan, Zyprexa, Zoloft, and a couple others. And I’m 16 now. NONE OF THEM HELPED.

It’s all a placebo affect and only for the money!

Psychiatry does not always involve the use of drugs.. I know several people who have changed their minds about killing themselves after a few sessions with a psychiatrist, minus the use of drugs. Why don’t you learn some more about the profession before you condemn it?

    Hmmm, let’s see…

We live in a universe where distance is relative, and time is also relative, and we perceive all of this reality second hand via a simulation in our brains based on input from a handful of sensors that allow us to perceive a pretty narrow spectrum of all that actually might be.

Knowing all the above, I think that really, really intelligent people know that all science is false science.
