How do i tell my parents I have OCD?

No one on my house ever cleans after themselves, and I’m pretty sure I have OCD. Everything bothers me.
My sister is especially annoying.
I’m 13.
I don’t know how to tell them, because, we live in Australia, but speak another language, I can’t tell them in English, because they won’t let me speak English at home, and I don’t think they would even understand.
They have no idea what it is, and if I somehow knew how to explain it, they wouldn’t understand. I’m very germophobic, and when I tell them it bothers me when everything is messy, they just yell at me, and say I’m being stupid.
Also my mum watches Mr. Monk, so maybe I should link something to that because he has OCD.
They’re against psychotherapists, and all that, but I really want to get help, since everything is always messy, because of my sister–10 years old, and my brother–5 years old.
I know it’s not their fault, but it really bothers me.
I started recently hitting my self, and I’m always stressed.
Also, what causes OCD in kids? I was just wandering.
Is there like a psychotherapist I can see over the internet or anyting, or a website that might help?

I know how you feel. I also think I have OCD, I’m 90% sure.
And I’m also 13. Well, turning 13 in a couple of days.
Thing is, my parents don’t seem to care (Well, I think). Probably because, they’ve got to finish jobs or something. But when I tell them, it looks like they’ve never heard of it before and thinks I’m crazy (In a jokey way).
Yeah, my house is messy too, but, I clean the things that don’t need to be cleaned. Like the hand wash. It has to be right in the middle. Also, my toothbrush, it has to be put in a really neat place. And sometimes, I have to go back and do it again. It gets annoying!

You can try quizes about OCD (like if you have OCD). I don’t know about seeing a psychotherapist online though. :/
I say, try telling your parents again. If they don’t listen, leave it. Wait till you definately know that you have OCD, look for the symptoms of it. If you’re definately sure, and you know it’s getting worse, put on your serious face and talk to your parents about seeing a psychotherapist.

Mine’s slowly getting worse, and I’m going to talk to my parents about it soon. Hopefully they care enough that they seek help for me.

    What you can do is:
Ask other people who has OCD, and ask them about their experiences about their OCD. That way, you learn more about it. Infact, that’s that I’m doing right now. :). I just saw your question and since you completely relate to me, I decided to answer.

    Hope I helped you :).

Try your parents again. many parents are like that.

If no progress talk to a school counsellor to talk to your parents.

The longer this goes on, the more of a habit it becomes.
    Counselling and meds really help.

    Let me tell you!

I have OCD. Very bad. I know what you are going through. I am a Psychology major.

OCD is Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. It is a chemical imbalance in the brain (Serotonin and Norepinephrine mostly cause it). Which is why most of the time anti-depressants are used to treat it.

You may just have OCD from watching Monk. I know some of my OCD habits most likely got worse because of watching Monk. lol. It’s a great show though.

Just talk to your parents. Try to show them what’s wrong. Maybe talk to a school guidance counselor and ask for them to talk to your parent’s. With this OCD, depending on how long it’s been going on, you will end up with a lot of anxiety and stress and you don’t need to live like that and your parents need to know that. I can tell you are already stressed and have anxiety.

If you don’t know how to approach your parent’s about it, then talk to a guidance counselor at your school, then take it from there.

Well you should seek out the help of your school guidance counselors. I don’t know how to tell you what to say, since I don’t know what language you do speak. But a terrific website that I use (I have OCD too) is Stuck in a Doorway. It’s an OCD support forum. It’s excellent. You could also try printing out some information from the OC Foundation in the "parents" section. Good luck.

A quiz for the presence of OCD is at http://www.ocdla.com/OCDtest.html Print the completed quiz, and put in an envelope addressed to them, in the mailbox, or under their door, or give it to your school counselor, and ask if they can be contacted on your behalf. MYSOPHOBIA - GERMOPHOBIA:
An effective form of "talk therapy" such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy will get you to challenge the way that you have been thinking, which is, to some extent, erroneous. Tests have shown (and confirmed on Mythbusters) that fecal coliforms are on most surfaces, far from toilets, carried on tiny water droplets created in flushing (put the lid down, to minimise it). High sources of microbial contamination, often overlooked, are:
    (1.) Supermarket trolley handles.
    (2.) ATM keypads.
    (3.) Computer keys.
Highest levels of bacteria are usually in the kitchen sink. View: http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2008/02/26/how-to-keep-your-home-clean-naturally.aspx

Avoid antibacterial chemicals; they actually breed supergerms, which evolve resistance through natural selection.
Practise a relaxation method, daily, and when needed, such as http://www.drcoxconsulting.com/managing-stress.html or http://altmedicine.about.com/cs/mindbody/a/Meditation.htm or http://www.wikihow.com/Meditate or the Yoga Nidra, (a series of easy mental exercises, only; no flexibility required) at http://your-mental-health.weebly.com/l.html (see pages 1, & A, about self harm) and/or Tai Chi, Qi Gong, or regular yoga. Employ the EFT (there is also a version for use in public) for which you can reasonably claim that you have a headache, as you use the acupressure massage/tapping on your temples, but it may be advisable to restrict yourself to subvocalising (saying it to yourself, in your mind; not aloud). "Even though I suffer from mysophobia, I deeply and completely accept myself". Go to: http://www.mercola.com searchbar: "EFT", & "EFT therapists", or http://www.emofree.com - http://www.emofree.com/freevideos.aspx has one for phobias. Professional EFT is best.
