It depends on the type of facility in which they work. They can work in the prison system, with legal teams, for the government in some other area, private practice, or other areas.
The salary can range from 70k and up. They also are typically offered many days of paid vacation.
How much work do they receive? As long as there is crime and mentally ill people, they will never be out of work.

*Nothing about being a forensic psychiatrist or psychologist allows a person to carry any type of weapon. If they want a weapon, they have to follow the laws just like everyone else.
*Many forensic specialists work at professors and researchers. They often make a standard salary anywhere between $35,000 - $150,000 depending on what university they work for and how much private clinical work they engage in.
*Other forensic professionals are employed full-time by police stations or cities. They also receive regular work and can make a decent salary. This is particularly true if they receive clinical referrals from the station and are able to see actual, paying patients.
