If I get a degree in psychiatry would I still have the training to be a clinical psychologist?
I dont know if I will like psychiatry as much as i would like being a clinical psychologist…but you make more money as a psychiatrist…

To be a psychiatrist they get a general undergraduate psychology degree, then go to medical school. To be a psychologist they also get an undergrad psych degree but instead of medical school go to graduate school. Go for your undergrad first then decide where you want to be as you learn more about the differences between the two.

I would think most of the classes overlap from psychiatry to clinical. I’m sure it wouldn’t be too much of a challenge probably some specialized classes. But if the career choice is because of the money, you might want to stick with psychiatry.

Psychiatry is a medical degree.
Clinical psychologists typically have either a PhD or a PsyD
so, the answer to your question is yes because they are two separate degrees. Also, there are philosophical differences between how psychiatrists and psychologists view things. Psychiatrists tend to see people as varying degrees of sick while psychologists tend to see people as varying degrees of normal.
