Is it possible to have cognitive problems as a result of deep brain stimulation for OCD?
About a year and a half ago I underwent a surgical procedure to help remedy a painful OCD spectrum disorder that I had. This procedure, known as deep brain stimulation, could have possibly been helpful in helping me overcome my disorder — I say possibly because I’m unsure as to whether or not the procedure or the medications or some combination of the two are responsible for improving my symptoms. I just want to know the possible long term side effects of the treatment and whether or not it is possible that it has caused problems with my concentration and processing of information.

The procedure certainly could have caused other cognitive dysfunctions.
However, proving that conjecture may be impossible.
I suggest that you focus your attention on your present state, and do what is in your power to facilitate the process of mollifying your present symptoms, rather than worrying about what may or may not have occurred in the past.
