online therapy?

Has anyone ever tried to hire a therapist through kasamba.com? Or any other experiences with online therapy? (I have bpd and no other access to therapy)

i think that if you truly have NO access to any other therapist that an online therapist is better than none (by NO access, i mean that there isn’t a hospital or clinic or any private therapist within at least 50 miles of your home if you have transportation or less if you have to rely solely on walking). but if it is at all possible for you to find someone closer to your home you should give more thought to pursuing that route. there is so much that transpires in therapy that doesn’t involve words - as a therapist, i can say that i learn almost as much about patients i’ve seen through their body language and/or facial expressions, and this would obviously be lost if you chose to pursue online therapy.

if you do go the online route, there are a few things to consider…for example, your insurance may be less likely to reimburse you for an online therapist. also, you’ll have to be more diligent in finding someone who is appropriately licensed. make sure that the person has appropriate counseling credentials. also consider what you’ll do if you have a crisis and do need to see someone in person.

    good luck

I suppose it can be done, but I think there are problems with "phone in" therapy.
