Question for Psychotherapists or Counsellors

I have been working in the Mental Health Field for now 5 years, running groups like Anxiety Management etc but now I would like to get a degree qualification in Psychotherapy, do you know of any Universities that run a course on this whereby at it actually leads you to be an actual Psychotherapist?

I would imagine any University that has a good Psychiatry program would also have an equally good Counselors program. That is a difficult that only you can make. Take the hard road frist and then you can select your preference once you try out the field of psychiatry.

You indicated that you like anxiety management and I belive that is a field that we do not have enough people to make a difference. There are a lot of psychotherapists but nor nearly enough in the field of anger management and we have more hostile people than ever and it is only getting worse.

Any or all of those choices are ideal and so needed. You cannot go wrong no matter which on you eventually decide on. Good Luck !!!

any university that offers a masters degree in psychology, behavioral sciences, etc. In order to become a psychotherapist, you first have to have your masters degree - make sure the degree has 60 hours. Then you have 2 1/2 years supervision, then you can take your boards and become an LPC. You can already start specializing during your supervision to become a psychotherapist. Good Luck.
