Should academic support staff reasonably expect clarity regarding upcoming work at their campus? ?
I have been working for a community college for over 2 years. I assist persons with cognitive disorders, and academic challenges. My role as a note taker - academic coach is apparently appreciated. However, when I ask about upcoming work, little or no feedback is given. A colleague said "they consider you to be casual labor and feel no obligation to look out for your employment needs." They claim to to value my efforts (lip service?) but, when it comes down to it, their actions are not congruent. If you were in my shoes, would you be actively looking elsewhere? Would you feel slighted by this? It’s not a one time deal, it’s an ongoing thing. Here is another interesting point to take into consideration: the counselor that takes care of my charge didn’t know I had been working with them the entire semester. Is this an issue? Do they have an obligation to know what is going on with the students they are handling?

don’t you have to write up reports on what you do each month?
