Why do Scientologists hate psychotherapy and anti-depressant medication?

Do Scientologists resent psychology because they fear nobody will need their help in finding happiness if everybody sees a counsellor or doctor?

They are taught that psychotherapy is a gigantic con game; and that the medications are treating the symptoms, not the causes. They are partially correct, of course; but ironically their own teachings are one enormous con game. I know professional science fiction writers who talked with L. Ron Hubbard at science fiction conventions, and he would rant about the way to become REALLY rich in America was to invent your own religion. He then went out and did so.

I think the best question is, why does Scientology hate God?

The concept behind Scientology is "self-auditing" which is their way of saying you admit to yourself what is wrong with you and you make changes to fix it. So Pschiatry and Psychology undermine that belief.

Of course that is the only way you can rid yourself of the spirits of million year old enslaved aliens that were sacrificed on a valcano at the bottom of an ocean.

    L. Ron Hubbard, Scientology’s founder, had a run-in with a shrink while an adolescent. He was prescribed medication as he was diagnosed as a manic-depressive. The drugs available at that time were rather rough on the system, so he quit taking them and quit seeing the shrink. He managed his own mood swings after that and decided that all mental medicos were quacks and con artists. He incorporated this into his "religion" and all its followers are taught to shun shrinks as fakes and mind controllers.

Of course, it doesn’t hurt that the scientologists then proceed to do EXACTLY what a good therapist does, encourage you to open yourself to yourself and learn your innermost self so that understanding yourself better you can learn to cope. And they ARE cost competitve with a good psychologist.

On the other hand, if your problems stem from something like a tumor (benign or malignant), a dysfunction of natural brain chemicals due to injury, disease or DNA malfunction……….well, they’re not a whole lotta help.

Because if they were on the right drugs, they’d see what a scam they’d gotten themselves into. Must easier to keep em mentally unstable making them more suggestable and easier to control.

It is Psychiatry and psychiatiric drugs, which include anti- depressants, not psychotherapy that the Church of Scientology is against. Only a medical Dr or Psychiatrist can prescribe psychiatric drugs, not a phychotherapist.

The reason for this has something to do with the fact that Psychiatry is a psuedo science, that cures nothing and has become a multi billion dollar industry, largely funded by government appropriation from tax payers dollars and the multi billion dollar psyciatric drug industry that it
has created and supports through selling chemical lobotomies to the general public, and our children. Hooking our children and teenagers onto addictive drugs, not to mention adults.

In 1994, psychiatrist Norman Sartorious, then president of the World Psychiatric Association (WPA) declared at a meeting of European psychiatrists,
"The time when psychiatrists considered that they could cure the mentally ill is gone. In the future the mentally ill have to learn to live with their illness."

These "illnesses" are created by labeling them through a Psychiatric Diagnostic Manual which get thicker every year with new "lables".There is no scientific basis for their diagnostic methods. (Mathmatics Disorder, Herbal Remedies Disorder etc…)

In the past they could get away with actual lobotomies, electric shock, drug induced long term "sleep" therapy, institutionalization etc.
Today they use these lables to justify "treatment".
These lables cure nothing. The drugs prescribed cure nothing and create drug addicts and cause suicidal and homicidal tendancies in people.(just a few of the many side effects)

The Church of Scientology has been stopping and exposing psychiatric abuse for over 35 years through the "Citizens Commission on Human Rights" organisation that was established for this purpose.

Check out their web site under http://www.cchr.org for more facts about psychiatry.
